Pumas Preseason News & Notes

Pumas preseason is well on its way to the start of the 2017 Apertura. Here are a few news and notes from the club’s start in Acapulco.

In their first presason tune-up, Pumas scrimmaged against Warriors Real 19 and won 6-0. Matias Britos scored twice, newcomers Nestor Calderon and Joffre Guerron scored a goal apiece, and Armando Arce and canterano Alejandro Zamudio added the other two goals.

Angel Elvira got the start at left back, while David Cabrera started in the midfield alongside Abraham. Calderon and Guerron started in the attack on the left and right respectively.

Pumas finished up training in Acapulco on Saturday with another friendly, this time against Universidad Autonoma de Guerrero. Nestor Calderon scored twice, while Armando Arce and Brian Figueroa added the others in the 4-0 win.

Pumas have released dates for four friendlies on their road to the 2017 Apertura. On June 29 against Venados, July 8 vs Monterrey, Jully 11 vs Puebla, and on July 15 against Zacatepec.

In case you missed it, the full 2017 schedule was released recently too. The big rivalry weekends are Week 3 at Club America, Week 5 at Tigres, Week 9 at Chivas, and Week 12 vs Cruz Azul.

In other news, Dario Veron made his destination official as the ex-Pumas captain joined Club Olimpia in his native Paraguay for a one-year deal. Eduardo Herrera made headlines finalizing a three-year deal with Rangers FC in Scotland.
