It was a busy week for the cantera, with several of the teams picking up wins. Here’s a recap of the action.

Pumas Premier (Segunda Division)

Score: Pumas 2-0 Puebla

After registering their first loss of the tournament last week, Pumas Premier regrouped and put away Puebla 2-0 on Friday.

Santiago Ormeno scored both goals, in the 46th and 52nd minute, to give Pumas the win. Ormeno now has six goals, which leads Pumas, and is only four off the league leader. I featured Ormeno and his success in an article earlier this month.

Goalkeeper Jose Castillo picked up his fifth clean sheet of the tournament.

Pumas moved up to third in Group 3 of the Liga Premier with 24 points.

Pumas U-20

Score: Pumas 2-3 Club America

The U-20s have the weekend off, but their last match was a loss against Club America. After the visitors went up 3-0 by the 82nd minute, Pumas nearly completed a comeback with two goals in the closing moments.

Center back Felipe Campos scored in the 86th minute, and Jose Alcantara added another in the 92nd minute.

Manuel Perez, one of Pumas great prospects that feel out of favor at the club, scored for America.

The U-20s dropped to seventh in the league table with 16 points.

Pumas U-17

Score: Pumas 1-0 Club America

In a tight match, Pumas came out on top with a narrow 1-0 win over America last week. Idekel Dominguez scored the game’s only goal, his first of the season.

Pumas moved up to fourth place in the league table, with 23 points.

Pumas (Tercera Division)

Score: Pumas 7-1 Pachuca Juniors
Score: Pumas 2-1 Independiente Mexiquense

It a week with two games, Pumas capitalized and picked up all six points.

Against Pachuca Junios on Wednesday, Pumas dominated and won 7-1. Alberto Gonzalez (2), Johan Rodriguez, Iratzy Dominguez, Said del Angel (2), and Emilio Segovia scored for Pumas.

On Saturday, Pumas beat Independiente Mexiquense 2-1. After giving up an early goal to their opponent, Pumas scored two second half goals to get the win. Alan Escoto and Del Angel scored for the visitors.

Del Angel has scored 16 goals in 19 games for the Tercera affiliate, and another two with the U-17s. He’s one of many canteranos I featured earlier this year.

After 29 matches, Pumas are 16-9-4 and have accumulated 55 points. They currently sit sixth in the Group 7 table.
