Pablo Barrera will miss the remainder of the 2017 Clausura due to injury. Pumas head coach Juan Francisco Palencia broke the news to media members on Tuesday as his team prepares to travel to Guadalajara to take on Atlas.
The injury is with Barrera’s right knee and may require surgery to repair. Barrera started and played 85 minutes against Toluca on Sunday, but was subbed off for Alejandro Zamudio due to the injury.
The injury concerns widen as Gerardo Alcoba is also expected to miss some time due to a leg injury, but Palencia implied it would not be long term. Alcoba also exited early against Toluca, coming off at the 60th minute for Pablo Jaquez.
Nicolas Castillo and Josecarlos Van Rankin, who both missed the last two Pumas games, are available for selection for Wednesday’s showdown at Atlas.
