Looking over Pumas preseason roster, there is a single name that stands out because it doesn’t seem familiar. Armando Arce is on the list, but don’t try and find him in the Pumas U-20, U-17, or Pumas Premier rosters, he’s not there.
Looking at Arce’s statistics, he makes for an interesting prospect to watch.
In the Segunda Division, he played in nine games with Correcaminos while scoring 12 goals. In the prior tournament, 10 games and 11 goals.
Another interesting note about Arce is he is not necessarily new to the Pumas organization. While it appears he began in the Club America Academy for the 2014 Apertura, he was registered with Pumas Naucalpan and the U-17s for the 2015 Clausura and Pumas Tercera Division side for their 2015-16 tournament.
In this short time with Pumas, he registered a total of 20 games and scored 10 goals.
After the initial publishing of this article, I learned Arce is actually a Pumas player on loan to Correcaminos after the club responded to a disgruntled fan on Twitter. “It’s out of our hands, he belongs to Pumas” the Ascenso side admitted.
Se le ofreció quedarse pero pertenece a Pumas y fue llamado a su pretemporada, no está en manos de Correcaminos

It’s unclear if Arce will play a role with Pumas in the upcoming season, or if he is simply a prospect the coaching staff wants to take a closer look at.
Pumas are in Acapulco to begin their preseason and will travel to Merida to take on Venados in a June 29 friendly. After that, they’ll head to the United States for two friendlies.
